Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger has told midfielder Jack Wilshere that he may be forced to play a wide role again next season.
The 23-year-old occasionally plugged gaps on the right flank in an otherwise injury-hit 2014-15 with the Gunners last term.
Earlier this morning, Wilshere said that he was "up for the challenge" of fighting for a central spot due to the "unbelievable" competition for places.
"For me he can play in all the offensive positions - wide and central," Wenger told the club's official website following the 4-0 win over a Select Singapore XI, in which Wilshere scored the second goal.
"I have so many good creative players. If you ask all of them where they want to play, they will always tell you central. Unfortunately some of them have to go wide as well."
The England international has been used primarily in the centre of midfield for the Three Lions under Roy Hodgson.
