Theo Walcott ruled out for rest of season

Arsenal's Theo Walcott is ruled out for the rest of the season with knee ligament damage.

Arsenal's Theo Walcott has been ruled out for at least six months with knee ligament damage.

The England international was stretchered off with the problem on Saturday during the Gunners' 2-0 win over Tottenham Hotspur in the FA Cup third round.

The 24-year-old will now undergo surgery "in the near future", according to Arsenal's official website.

"After coming off injured in Saturday's 2-0 win against Tottenham Hotspur, the club regrettably announces that Theo Walcott has sustained a ruptured anterior cruciate ligament of his left knee," read an official statement.

"Theo will have surgery in London in the near future and is expected to be out for at least six months, therefore missing the remainder of the season and the World Cup in Brazil in the summer.

Everyone at Arsenal wishes Theo a speedy recovery and we look forward to seeing him back on a football pitch as soon as possible."

Walcott has scored six goals in 18 appearances for Arsenal this season.
