A report claims that Arsenal's players have made clear they do not want Manchester City coach Mikel Arteta to be considered as a potential replacement for Arsene Wenger.

Arsenal chiefs will reportedly steer away from approaching Mikel Arteta to replace Arsene Wenger due to reservations aired by the playing squad.

The Gunners are rumoured to be on the lookout for a viable candidate to succeed Wenger, whose position is due to come under review at the end of the campaign.

Arteta, who spent five years at the North London outfit prior to moving into a coaching role at Manchester City, is one of a number of names to have been linked with the high-profile job.

According to The Sun, however, key members of the dressing room have made clear that they do not want the Spaniard appointed in any capacity, as he was considered "too arrogant" during his previous spell in North London.

The same report suggests that Arsenal legend Thierry Henry will also not be considered, despite indicating that he would love the chance to manage his former club.
