Derek McInnes: 'Confidence key to Europa League progress'

Aberdeen manager Derek McInnes believes that his side will have "confidence" ahead of their Europa League tie with Kazakh outfit Kairat Almaty.

Derek McInnes has insisted that the "confidence" from beating HNK Rijeka will help Aberdeen extend their run in the Europa League.

The Dons beat the Croatian side 5-2 on aggregate, setting up a meeting with Kairat Almaty of Kazakhstan in the next qualifying round.

The manager told BBC Scotland: "It's exciting, the players will go out and enjoy this. It's probably the furthest flung place we could go.

"With the confidence of putting out a good side, hopefully we can go there and give a good account of ourselves and bring it back here to try to get through. We'll try to utilise the squad the right way.

"We're just over an hour to China, so I'm told. We'll fly out late Tuesday night and the club will look after us. We'll charter a flight, we'll get a good aeroplane, make sure the boys can get their head down and get a kip and we'll be ready for it."

Aberdeen play in Kazakhstan next Thursday, before hosting their opponents the following week.
