Wolverhampton Wanderers are reportedly preparing to make an approach for Benfica forward Goncalo Ramos, who would act as a replacement for Fabio Silva.

Wolverhampton Wanderers are reportedly interested in negotiating a deal for Benfica forward Goncalo Ramos.

Earlier on Thursday, it was widely claimed that the Premier League outfit were preparing to allow Fabio Silva to move to Anderlecht on a season-long loan deal.

That transfer is only expected to go through if the 19-year-old extends his contract at Molineux past the end of 2024-25 with Wolves only prepared to agree to a straight loan arrangement.

Regardless of whether that move comes to fruition, it is a sign that Wolves are prepared to allow the Portugal Under-21 international to gain further senior experience elsewhere.

While Patrick Cutrone and Leo Bonatini have recently returned from loan spells away, neither player is expected to provide backup to Raul Jimenez next season.

Instead, Portuguese journalist Bruno Andrade has claimed that the West Midlands outfit are ready to make an approach for Ramos.

The 21-year-old enjoyed a productive time in Primeira Liga during the most recent campaign, making a total of 17 starts and 12 substitute appearances.

Although the Portugal Under-21 international was not always regarded as first choice, he had competition in the form of new Liverpool signing Darwin Nunez.

Should Ramos, who netted seven times, remain at Estadio da Luz, the versatile attacker will have the opportunity to impress newly-appointed head coach Roger Schmidt.

Nevertheless, it is suggested that Benfica are open to offers for Ramos at a time when Petar Musa and David Neres have already signed for the Eagles.

With Ramos still having four years left on his contract, club officials may not feel in any rush to cash in on the academy graduate.

From Wolves' perspective, head coach Bruno Lage is familiar with Ramos due to the player being on his radar during his time at Benfica.

However, Ramos's debut with the 'B' team and the first team came shortly after Lage had moved from the managerial role of those respective sides.

Ramos is no stranger to the atmosphere of English football having started and scored in the second leg of the Champions League quarter-final with Liverpool as recently as April.
