Preview: West Ham United Women vs. Arsenal Women - prediction, team news, lineups

Sports Mole previews Sunday's Women's Super League clash between West Ham United Women and Arsenal Women, including predictions, team news and possible lineups.

Arsenal Women head into the final game of the season against West Ham United Women with the chance to win the Women's Super League title.

The Gunners are just one point behind league leaders Chelsea, while the hosts currently reside in sixth place.

West Ham will be proud of their efforts this term, with the Hammers improving upon last season's ninth-placed finish.

Sunday's hosts have already picked up 12 more points than they did last term, with the sixth-placed side set to complete the WSL campaign in the top half of the table.

Despite faring well in the league, West Ham have tailed off towards the end of the season after losing four of their last five matches in all competitions.

They had the chance to clinch back-to-back victories last weekend, but they ultimately failed as Manchester United condemned Olli Harder's side to a 3-0 defeat.

Although they have home advantage on Sunday, the Hammers will be concerned by their current winless five-game home run.

Arsenal enter the final day of the season still dreaming of lifting their first WSL title since 2019, but for them to finish in top spot, the Gunners need Chelsea to slip up.

Jonas Eidevall's side will win the league title if they beat West Ham and Chelsea drop points against Manchester United, while a draw could also be enough if the Blues lose on Sunday.

The Gunners enter Sunday's contest in a confident mood after winning their last seven league games by an aggregate 29-2 scoreline.

They are also in high spirits following the midweek victory over local rivals Tottenham Hotspur, with a Beth Mead strike and a Caitlin Foord brace helping Arsenal to a 3-0 win.

With Arsenal looking for three points on Sunday, they can take inspiration from the 4-0 win that they picked up against West Ham in the reverse fixture.

Team News

The hosts are still without the services of Maisy Barker, who remains a long-term injury absentee.

Hawa Cissoko has started the last two matches for West Ham, and the 25-year-old is expected to keep her place in the side, with Harder expected to name an unchanged lineup.

That would ensure that Lisa Evans and Adriana Leon will continue to operate in the front two for the Hammers.

As for the visitors, they are unable to call upon the services of Jordan Nobbs who is ruled out with a knee injury, while a calf problem will prevent Rafaelle from featuring.

Eidevall may be tempted to name an unchanged lineup, which would keep Katie McCabe on the bench for the second game in the row.

Vivianne Miedema will be key to Arsenal's efforts on Sunday, with the Netherlands international aiming to add to the 14 league goals that she has scored this season.

West Ham United Women possible starting lineup:
Arnold; Fisk, Cissoko, Longhurst; Wyne, Hasegawa, Yallop, Brynjarsdottir, Svitkova; Leon, Evans

Arsenal Women possible starting lineup:
Zinsberger; Maritz, Williamson, Wubben-Moy, Catley; Walti, Little; Mead, Miedema, Foord; Blackstenius

We say: West Ham United Women 1-3 Arsenal Women

Although a win may not be enough to clinch Arsenal the title, we think that the Gunners will at the very least be ready to pounce if Chelsea drop points by beating West Ham on Sunday.
