Tottenham Hotspur manager Antonio Conte issues injury updates on Steven Bergwijn and Ryan Sessegnon ahead of Wednesday's EFL Cup semi-final first leg with Chelsea.

Tottenham Hotspur manager Antonio Conte is hopeful of having Ryan Sessegnon back in time for the FA Cup third-round clash with Morecambe at the weekend.

The former Fulham man has struggled for fitness throughout the campaign and has only made six appearances in all competitions this term, including one Premier League start.

Conte expects Sessegnon to shake off his latest thigh problem in time for the weekend, but the Italian is more pessimistic over Steven Bergwijn's calf injury.

Speaking to reporters ahead of Wednesday's EFL Cup semi-final first leg with Chelsea, Conte said: "Ryan Sessegnon's situation is better than Steven Bergwijn's. I think he's almost ready to be available in the next game, in the FA Cup he'll be available.

"For Steve, I think we have to pay a bit more attention because his problem was in the calf, where you have to pay more attention and wait a bit before we have him available again."

Tottenham - who continue to make do without Cristian Romero as well - have also been hit with another coronavirus scare ahead of the trip to Stamford Bridge in midweek.
