Nigel Pearson: 'We deserved Queens Park Rangers scalp'

Leicester City boss Nigel Pearson says that his side deserved their 1-0 win at Queens Park Rangers.

Leicester City manager Nigel Pearson has insisted that his side were worthy of their 1-0 win over Queens Park Rangers in the Championship.

The Foxes boss admitted the contest was close, but was adamant that his team created enough chances to deserve maximum points.

"It's very fine margins but we've managed to secure the points today," Sky Sports News quotes him as saying "To be honest, on another day, if they'd been a little more clinical it could have been a different game.

"But we still feel we've created enough goalscoring opportunities to secure the points."

Pearson went on to say that his side could have made the game safe sooner had they been more efficient on the counterattack, but was full of praise for his defence.

"We had to defend with a real gritty determination, but we showed some qualities," he added. "I think with the conditions, especially earlier in the game, both sides were trying to attack and get shots away.

"I think we could have seen the game off with a bit more care on one or two counter-attacks, but the most important thing for us today was to get the three points against a very, very good side."

The result puts Leicester level on points with league leaders QPR.
