Rui Patricio: 'Portugal still confident'

Portugal goalkeeper Rui Patricio insists that his team are still 'full of confidence' despite drawing their Euro 2016 opener against Iceland.

Portugal goalkeeper Rui Patricio has insisted that his country are still confident of impressing at Euro 2016 despite opening their campaign with a disappointing 1-1 draw against Iceland.

Nani sent Fernando Santos's side into a first-half lead in their opening Group F match on Tuesday, but Birkir Bjarnason's leveller ensured that Portugal would only claim one point in Saint-Etienne.

Portugal will continue their challenge against Austria on Saturday, and Patricio has said that the team's "confidence is always on top".

"Our confidence is always on top because we've managed to take the team this far and we know the quality we can put on to the pitch," the Sporting Lisbon stopper told reporters.

"[The Iceland match] is not the result we wanted but we depend only on ourselves to reach our goals. The first goal is to pass the group stage. Our confidence has not been hurt. We know the quality of our game. We are going to do everything to win."

Portugal made the semi-finals of Euro 2012 before losing to eventual winners Spain.
