Vincent Kompany: 'Manchester City don't fear Barcelona'

Man City captain Vincent Kompany says that Barcelona do not scare them ahead of facing the Catalan giants in the Champions League.

Vincent Kompany has insisted that Tuesday's Champions League clash with Barcelona holds no fear for him and his Manchester City teammates.

City will look to earn a first-leg advantage when they host the Spanish giants at Eastlands in part one of their last-16 tie this week.

With the likes of Lionel Messi, Neymar and Luis Suarez expected to feature, Kompany admits that Barca boast an array of "special players", but the Belgian is unperturbed by the notion of facing them.

"Fear? We don't fear them. You don't go in at this level fearing strikers," the Sky Blues captain told The Mirror. "They're a special team with special players, of course.

"We want to play against them. It will be the fourth time in a year. There's nothing new to worry us, it's a case of having the whole team at a very high level.

"It's about the fact they can decide a game within a second. They have more players than anyone else in the world who can finish games with a touch of magic."

Manuel Pellegrini's side warmed up for the encounter with a 5-0 demolition of Newcastle United on Saturday, while the Blaugrana lost 1-0 at home to Malaga.
