Half-Time Report: Tottenham Hotspur lead against Liverpool

Goals from Aaron Lennon and Gareth Bale give Tottenham Hotspur the lead over Liverpool at half time.

Tottenham Hotspur have opened up a two-goal lead over Liverpool after the first 45 minutes at White Hart Lane.

The home side got off to a great start thanks to Aaron Lennon, who tapped in at the back post following Gareth Bale's driven cross in the seventh minute.

Luis Suarez then looked for an immediate reply and tested Hugo Lloris from a free kick, before Jordan Henderson had a glorious opportunity to level for the visitors.

Lloris was forced to come off his line to tidy up Gerrard's through ball but presented the England international with an open goal from 20 yards out. However, Spurs were let off as Henderson fired into the side netting.

The Reds were punished for that miss just three minutes later, when Bale's deflected free kick eluded Pepe Reina.

Brendan Rodgers's men then sprang into life as Lloris was twice forced into action to deny first Suarez and then Jose Enrique.

The Uruguayan forward thought that he had given Liverpool a lifeline in the 35th minute, only for Kyle Walker to make a last-ditch clearance off the line.
