Thomas Muller says that he is confident that Bayern Munich will get the better of Chelsea in the last 16 of the Champions League.

Thomas Muller has claimed that Bayern Munich are well-equipped to overcome an 'under-performing' Chelsea side in the Champions League.

On Monday morning, the two European giants were paired together in the draw for the last 16, naturally leading to talk of Bayern wanting revenge for their defeat to the Blues in the 2012 final at their own ground.

While Muller has insisted that he has not watched much of Chelsea since the arrival of Frank Lampard, the forward is confident of further progression in the competition.

Muller is quoted by Sky Sports News as saying: "As you can expect, there are teams taking part in the round of the last 16 that have European quality, but we are self-confident and I feel really good about the draw.

"I don't know that much about the current situation at Chelsea, I only know the last results and as far as I know they're not performing that well, but I didn't see much of them to be honest.

"But yeah, they have some forwards, for example [Callum] Hudson-Odoi or Christian Pulisic, who have some well-known qualities, but in football it's not about single players, it's about the team performance."

Bayern won each of their six games in the group stages against Tottenham Hotspur, Olympiacos and Red Star Belgrade respectively.
