Legia Warsaw lose Champions League appeal, Celtic retain place

Legia Warsaw fail in their appeal to be reinstated in the Champions League after fielding an ineligible player during their comfortable victory against Celtic.

Legia Warsaw have lost their appeal to UEFA to be reinstated in the Champions League following their expulsion from the competition last week.

The Polish champions fielded an ineligible player in the second leg of their 6-1 aggregate victory over the Hoops in the qualifying round.

Legia launched an appeal against the decision which was today upheld, although the club's president Dariusz Miodusk confirmed that he will now take the matter to the Court of Arbitration for Sport.

Celtic will face Maribor for a place in the Champions League proper.
