Leicester City keeper Ben Hamer seals Bristol City loan switch

Bristol City sign Leicester City goalkeeper Ben Hamer on a season-long loan after a similar deal to take him to Nottingham Forest fell through.

Leicester City goalkeeper Ben Hamer has joined Bristol City on a season-long loan after a similar move to Nottingham Forest fell through.

Forest agreed a deal with Leicester last month, but Hamer was sent back last week over a technical issue with Forest's Financial Fair Play transfer embargo.

Bristol, another Championship side, have now swooped and poached the 27-year-old on a season-long deal that includes an instant recall clause should Leicester need him back.

Robins boss Steve Cotterill told the club website that Hamer would provide competition to Frank Fielding for the No.1 spot.

"We've been looking to bring in another good keeper," Cotterill said. "Even though young Max O'Leary has done fantastically well in pre-season, we needed another experienced one so I'm delighted Ben has agreed to come on board."

Hamer joined Leicester from Charlton Athletic last summer, making eight Premier League starts in 2014-15.
