Father: 'Arsenal not only club interested in Thomas Partey'

Atletico Madrid midfielder Thomas Partey's father insists that Arsenal are not the only club in the running to sign his son.

The father of Atletico Madrid midfielder Thomas Partey has insisted that Arsenal are not the only club in the running to sign his son during this summer's transfer window.

The Ghana international continues to be linked with a move away from the Wanda Metropolitano, and it is understood that the Gunners are prepared to meet the £44.5m release clause in his current deal.

However, Jacob Partey has said that any club is free to sign the 26-year-old ahead of the 2020-21 campaign if they are prepared to meet the buy-out figure.

"My son's current club Atletico Madrid has a release clause in Partey's deal... this means that any club which shows interest in signing him must meet those demands," Jacob Partey told SilverFM.

"So any team which meets Atletico's demand will be able to sign my son, and not specifically Arsenal as rumoured in a section of the media. I always call my son and he is of age to decide on a move.. I am ready to support his decision."

Thomas has scored three times in 35 appearances for Diego Simeone's side this season.
