Adam: 'Tierney ready for Real Madrid or Man City move'

Former Liverpool midfielder Charlie Adam insists that Arsenal's Kieran Tierney is capable of playing for Real Madrid or Manchester City.

Arsenal left-back Kieran Tierney is ready to take the step up to play for Real Madrid or Manchester City, according to Charlie Adam.

The former Celtic man endured a challenging time with injuries during his early days at the Emirates, but he has since established himself as an indispensable member of Mikel Arteta's squad.

Tierney has scored one goal and assisted three more from 23 Premier League appearances this season, and former Liverpool man Adam - who now plies his trade with Scottish Championship side Dundee - would not be surprised to see his compatriot earn a move to one of European football's superpowers.

In quotes attributed to Metro, Adam said: "Would it surprise me if a Real Madrid, a Man City or any of the clubs in the top echelons come in for him in the summer?

"I think he's ready now. He's 23, he signed for Arsenal injured and was out for a spell with groin and shoulders problems. But he's come back and has matured into a top player. I believe he can go to the next level again. You're starting at £50m too."

However, Tierney's injury problems returned against Liverpool as he was forced off with a knee problem at the end of the first half, and the issue is expected to keep him out of action for the next four to six weeks.
