Team News: Jamie Ness handed Scunthorpe United debut for Wigan Athletic test

Wigan and Scunthorpe both name two changes to their first XIs for the League One contest at the DW Stadium.

Mark Robins has handed a debut to summer signing Jamie Ness for tonight's visit to Wigan Athletic in League One.

The midfielder, 24, joined on a Bosman after being released by Stoke City, and he is one of two changes by Robins from the 2-0 win over Crewe Alexandra.

Captain Stephen Dawson also returns as the duo replace Sean McAllister and Gary McSheffrey respectively.

Likewise, Latics boss Gary Caldwell also makes two changes from the 0-0 draw with Doncaster Rovers last time out, with Craig Davies and Donervon Daniels coming in.

Will Grigg leads the hosts' forward line as he chases a first Wigan goal following his summer move from Brentford.

Wigan Athletic: O'Donnell; James, Perkins, Daniels, Morgan; McCann, Jacobs, Kenny, Francisco; Grigg, Davies

Scunthorpe United: Anyon; Wiseman, Clarke, Mirfin, King; Laird, Ness, Bishop, Dawson; Hopper, Madden
