Sunderland attacker Duncan Watmore has admitted that his team 'were not good enough' in Monday's 3-0 defeat to Everton.
The two teams were level at the interval of the Premier League clash, but a second-half hat-trick from Romelu Lukaku secured all the points for the visitors, who have moved into third position in the table.
Sunderland, on the other hand, are still winless this season, and Watmore has apologised to the Black Cats' supporters following another disappointing performance at the Stadium of Light.
"It wasn't good enough from us. We need to do better for the fans. We felt we were controlling the game quite well but the goals are frustrating and the manager is annoyed," Watmore told Sky Sports News. "We have to be positive. We need to get the fans behind us because that wasn't good enough."
Next up for Sunderland is a trip to Tottenham Hotspur next Sunday afternoon.
