Luis Aragones expects success for Madrid teams

Luis Aragones believes that both Madrid clubs have a genuine chance of lifting the La Liga title this season.

Luis Aragones has claimed that Real Madrid can still beat Barcelona to the Spanish league title, despite the Catalan club currently holding an eight-point lead over their fierce rivals.

Atletico Madrid have the same number of points as Barcelona after seven games and Aragones believes that both clubs from the capital have genuine title claims this season.

The former Spain manager told O Jogo: "There are a lot of games for Real Madrid to recover the points they need and for a team like Madrid nothing is lost.

"Atletico is stronger than in previous years.

"They can have a good season and be closer to their rivals, or even fight for the title if they can maintain this consistency."

Aragones has been out of the game since his departure from Fenerbahce in 2009.
