Laurent Blanc: 'Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Edinson Cavani partnership a problem'

Paris Saint-Germain coach Laurent Blanc admits that he may have a problem getting Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Edinson Cavani playing together in attack.

Paris Saint-Germain coach Laurent Blanc has admitted that finding a way to combine strike duo Edinson Cavani and Zlatan Ibrahimovic this season may prove problematic.

Cavani made his full debut for PSG on Sunday against Ajaccio, lining up alongside Ibrahimovic as Blanc went with the front two for the first time.

Ajaccio came close to leaving the Parc des Princes with all three points, but a late Cavani strike helped PSG salvage a late point.

Blanc believes that his side deserved much more than a 1-1 draw from the match after having 37 shots at Guillermo Ochoa's goal, while conceding that his side need time to accommodate both players in the same system.

He told Ligue 1's official website: "Even if we didn't start well nobody can say that was played poorly in the first half. Teams try to make the most of our slow starts to games because they've noticed our difficulties in getting going. The second half was more encouraging.

"We were hoping not to fall too far behind our main rivals and this match was really disappointing because we deserved to win it. It wasn't my intention for Cavani to play the whole match but circumstances meant he had to. We took a risk and we did the right thing because he scored a superb goal.

"The problem will be to get Cavani and Ibrahimovic playing together and we know that. They have differing qualities, but they have one thing in common and that is goalscoring. When those two start scoring goals then we'll hurt teams."

Blanc continues his search for a first league win in charge of the French champions next weekend against newly-promoted Nantes.
