Ryan Giggs unhappy with Senegal tackling

Ryan Giggs calls for more protection from the referees at the Olympics following Senegal's display of rough tackling at Old Trafford.

Team GB captain Ryan Giggs has voiced his displeasure at Senegal's rough tackling during their 1-1 draw at Old Trafford.

As a result, the Welshman revealed that the squad is now having to cope with a few injuries ahead of their next game against the UAE on Sunday.

Craig Bellamy limped off not long after he was on the receiving end of a rash challenge from right-back Saliou Ciss.

"All you want is a bit of protection," said Giggs. "You don't want anyone to get sent off but there were a few naughty challenges in there.

"A few of our lads are probably struggling for Sunday now, which is disappointing when you have only 18 players to choose from. That's the most disappointing aspect.

"There was no consistency. [Bellamy] got booked going in for a header and then there were some ridiculous challenges and you don't even see a yellow card. I don't know how many fouls that [Sadio Mane] had but in a Premier League game he'd probably have been sent off three times."

The other result in Group A saw Uruguay beat the UAE 2-1.
