Stoke City skipper Ryan Shawcross has heaped praise on Paul Scholes, saying that the Manchester United midfielder is a "legend".

Stoke travel to Old Trafford tonight in the Premier League and Scholes is likely to feature for the Red Devils after retiring seven months ago.

"He's a legend isn't he? He was always going to get fed up of not playing," Shawcross said.

"He's still got it and it doesn't surprise me.

"When the likes of Xavi say he's the best player they've faced, that tells you how good he is."

Stoke are currently eighth in the Premier League with 30 points from 22 games.
