Liverpool striker Daniel Sturridge hungry to start in Manchester United clash

Daniel Sturridge says that he is determined to make an "impact" for Liverpool if he is chosen in the starting lineup for their encounter with Manchester United on Sunday.

Liverpool striker Daniel Sturridge has insisted that he will feel fit enough to compete against Manchester United this weekend.

The 22-year-old, who completed his move from Chelsea to Anfield last week, has admitted that he is not currently at full fitness but will not turn down the chance to start against the Reds' fierce rivals on Sunday.

"It's down to the manager which team he picks for the United game," The Express quotes Sturridge as saying.

"You are always fit enough to start a game against Manchester United. I would love to play. If I'm chosen then great, if not I will be looking to come on and make an impact."

The England international scored on his debut for the Merseyside club in their 2-1 win over Mansfield Town in the FA Cup third round on Sunday.
