Henderson backs Liverpool over Brendan Rodgers faith

Liverpool midfielder Jordan Henderson says that the Reds' hierarchy will not regret keeping faith in manager Brendan Rodgers.

Jordan Henderson has said that Liverpool's hierarchy are right to stick by manager Brendan Rodgers after a disappointing 2014-15 campaign.

Rodgers's future at Anfield was said to be in doubt after the Reds failed to re-qualify for the Champions League and lost their FA Cup semi-final to Aston Villa in April.

Nevertheless, the club kept faith in the Northern Irishman amid speculation that ex-Borussia Dortmund coach Jurgen Klopp could be heading toward Merseyside - a decision that has pleased Henderson.

"Of course I want him to stay" he told The Telegraph. "I have spoke highly of Brendan ever since he came to the club. He has been fantastic for me and for Liverpool.

"This [coming] season is a big season for everyone involved. We all know that. We want to be finishing high as possible in the league and winning trophies.

"We have a great group of lads with great potential but I think it's time now we started showing that potential in the Premier League and also in cups. Getting to semi-finals is great but we need to be getting to finals and winning trophies. That is what we will be looking to do next season."

Henderson, 24, joined Liverpool for £20m from Sunderland in 2011.
