Fabinho returns to Liverpool's starting lineup for Wednesday's Champions League battle with Atletico Madrid.

Fabinho has returned to the Liverpool starting lineup for Wednesday's Champions League battle with Atletico Madrid.

The Brazilian midfielder has missed his side's last three Premier League games with a minor knee problem, although Jurgen Klopp revealed that he was in contention for this game during his pre-match press conference.

Fabinho has now been given the green light to feature from the first whistle alongside Jordan Henderson, while Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain also earns a start in the engine room as Thiago Alcantara makes the bench.

Andy Robertson has made way for Kostas Tsimikas at left-back, while Joel Matip also makes an expected return to the backline over Ibrahima Konate alongside Virgil van Dijk.

Diogo Jota gets the nod over Roberto Firmino at the tip of the Reds' attack, while Mohamed Salah also starts as he seeks to equal Steven Gerrard's Champions League Anfield goalscoring record for Liverpool.

Harvey Elliott, Naby Keita, Curtis Jones and James Milner are not involved for Liverpool, while Joe Gomez is also absent after reportedly missing training on Tuesday night.

Liverpool starting lineup: Alisson; Alexander-Arnold, Matip, Van Dijk, Tsimikas; Henderson, Fabinho, Oxlade-Chamberlain; Salah, Jota, Mane
