Leicester City confirm Islam Slimani capture

Leicester City confirm the arrival of Sporting Lisbon striker Islam Slimani.

Leicester City have confirmed the arrival of Sporting Lisbon striker Islam Slimani on a club-record deal thought to be worth almost £30m.

Earlier today Slimani, 28, successfully completed a medical in Bologna, Italy, where he is training with the Algeria national team alongside Riyad Mahrez, before penning a five-year deal with the Foxes.

"To join a team like Leicester City is a huge honour and I can't wait to get started," Slimani told the club's website. "I've always wanted to play my football in the Premier League and to get the opportunity to do that with the reigning champions was something I simply could not turn down.

"I saw the amazing success of last season and the passion of the Club's supporters. That's something that I'm so excited to be a part of."

The Premier League champions have now spent almost £70m on new signings during the transfer window, breaking their own transfer record three times in the process.
