Liverpool are reportedly considering making a last-minute bid for Leicester City left-back Christian Fuchs before the transfer window shuts on Wednesday.
According to The Sun, the 30-year-old has held initial talks with the Premier League champions about extending his contract, which expires at the end of next season, but the negotiations have "stalled".
That has apparently alerted Jurgen Klopp's side, who were credited with an interest in Fuchs earlier this summer as they looked for ways to deal with their problem position.
Klopp has since drafted in James Milner at left-back and has insisted that he has no plans to strengthen his backline before the window closes.
Leicester have already tied down the likes of Jamie Vardy, Riyad Mahrez and Wes Morgan to new terms this summer but negotiations are proving more tricky with Fuchs, who is one of the club's lowest earners and is pushing for a hefty wage increase.
Liverpool and Leicester meet at Anfield in their next fixture when Premier League action resumes after the international break.
