Islam Slimani brace helps Leicester City overcome Burnley

Leicester City thrash Burnley 3-0 in Saturday's Premier League clash at the King Power Stadium as Islam Slimani marks his Foxes league debut with a brace.

Leicester City have thrashed Burnley 3-0 in Saturday's clash at the King Power Stadium, thanks to Islam Slimani's brace in his Premier League bow.

Both sides started brightly and enjoyed a number of forays on goal, but the first concrete chance did not come until the 25th minute, when Riyad Mahrez weaved through the Clarets defence and forced a save from Tom Heaton.

The Algerian then came close with a header in the 37th minute, but in first-half injury time, compatriot Slimani succeeded in rifling the Foxes ahead by nodding home Christian Fuchs's free kick.

Slimani then added a second to double the hosts' lead just a few minutes after the restart, connecting with Jamie Vardy's ball to lash another header into the back of the Burnley net.

With Leicester in cruise control, the game was all but over as a contest when, 78 minutes in, Clarets defender Ben Mee bundled the ball into his own net.

The win capped off a positive week for Claudio Ranieri's side, who also won 3-0 at Club Brugge in the Champions League on Wednesday.
