Brian McDermott: 'We need an owner with real clout'

Brian McDermott says that he wants Leeds United to be taken over by an owner with "real clout".

Leeds United manager Brian McDermott has stated that he wants his side to be taken over by an owner with "real clout".

The Whites are expecting to hear in the coming days whether the proposed capture of the club by Massimo Cellino has been successful.

The Italian bid to buy a 75% stake in the Championship side, but doubts have emerged after it was revealed that he had failed to pay import duty on his yacht.

"I would like to see the club taken over by someone with real clout," McDermott told LUTV. "I would like to see the club built from the bottom, starting from a blank piece of paper, so we can get this club to where it belongs.

"We are not in that situation at the moment. We went to Burnley on Saturday on the back of three straight defeats and the fans were unbelievable. I know I keep saying the same things but the fans are absolutely phenomenal and they deserve so much."

Leeds are currently 15th in the Championship table.
