RB Leipzig boss Julian Nagelsmann insists Timo Werner still in CL plans

RB Leipzig boss Julian Nagelsmann dismisses claims that Timo Werner, a transfer target of Chelsea, will not represent the club in the Champions League quarter-finals.

RB Leipzig boss Julian Nagelsmann insists that Timo Werner remains a part of his plans for the Champions League quarter-finals.

With Werner expected to link up with Chelsea later in 2020, it has been claimed that the 24-year-old will be left out of Leipzig's European squad for the remainder of the campaign.

However, despite the Germany international being increasingly likely to move to Stamford Bridge, Nagelsmann hints that he wants to continue to have the versatile attacker at his disposal.

At a press conference, Nagelsmann told reporters: "He is currently, as usual, in my plans to play the Champions League. He is our player and has not signed for anyone else.

"His importance to RB Leipzig is extraordinary. He has an incredibly good goalscoring rate, which you always hope for from a striker."

Some reports have claimed that Chelsea and Leipzig may finalise a deal as early as this week.
