Eden Hazard: 'Chelsea did not play to their qualities'

Chelsea winger Eden Hazard admits that his side 'did not play to their qualities' in Sunday's 1-0 defeat to Manchester City.

Chelsea winger Eden Hazard has admitted that his side did not play to their qualities in Sunday's 1-0 defeat to Manchester City.

Bernardo Silva scored the only goal of the game shortly after half time to send City 18 points clear at the Premier League summit, while Chelsea were criticised for their tactics.

Hazard, who was left chasing the City players and failed to register a single shot on target in 90 minutes, told reporters after the game that a different approach could have served Antonio Conte's side better.

"When you leave the pitch you have the impression that you've ran, but that you haven't played a game of football. That's a pity," the Belgian international said.

"We could have played on for three hours, and I wouldn't touch a ball. Only at the end it went better - in the last 10 to 15 minutes we had more possession. But we should have tried to do that all game.

"I try to jump towards the long balls. I played today against Nicolas Otamendi and Aymeric Laporte. It's not easy to win duels against them. We haven't played with our qualities.

"If [Olivier] Giroud or Alvaro Morata would have played up front, it would have been easier to play those long balls. With me, its a little bit more complicated, but I've tried to give my best. It's not easy to win duels against them."

Chelsea face Crystal Palace in their next game on Saturday.
