Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola claims that his side were "better" than Chelsea in every aspect during their 1-0 win over the champions at the Etihad Stadium.

Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola has claimed that his side were "better" than Chelsea in every aspect during their 1-0 win over the champions this evening.

Bernardo Silva's goal at the start of the second half sent City another step closer to succeeding Chelsea as champions of England as they climbed 18 points clear at the top of the table.

The victory came after two convincing wins over Arsenal in the preceding week, and Guardiola was impressed with the aggression his side showed throughout.

"Chelsea can do absolutely everything - build-up, long balls and when they make high pressing they do it well. When they defended they were well organised," he told reporters at his post-match press conference.

"But in all the aspects we were better. We made an amazing high pressing, our build-up was good, we didn't concede one shot on target and we created enough chances to win.

"We made an amazing performance because we played against Chelsea, who are still the champions. Two-and-a-half days after Arsenal, and the [EFL Cup] final, we were aggressive and we had desire and commitment to want to win again."

City now need a maximum of only four more wins to secure their third Premier League title.
