Jay Rodriguez scored twice as Burnley beat Nottingham Forest 2-0 at the City Ground tonight to increase the hosts' relegation worries.
Forest boss Steve Cotterill, who was facing his former club, watched on in frustration as his current side continued their poor home form.
Rodriguez gave the Clarets an early lead when he headed in from Kieran Trippier's cross with just three minutes played.
The England Under-21s international missed a golden opportunity to double his tally when he missed from the penalty spot.
Forest midfielder Gareth McCleary pulled back Ben Mee in the box but Rodriguez slipped upon striking the ball and sent his spot kick wide.
However, the miss did not prove costly as Eddie Howe's side secured the points with a 64th-minute second.
It was the same combination which opened up the Forest defence. This time Trippier floated in a cross from Ross Wallace's layoff for Rodriguez to power home another headed effort.
The result leaves Forest bottom of the Championship while Burnley move to within two points of the playoff positions.
