Referee Martin Atkinson is called up as a goal-line official for the Champions League semi-final first leg between Bayern Munich and Real Madrid after his controversial mistake at Wembley.

Under-fire referee Martin Atkinson has been called up as one of two officials to assist tomorrow's Champions League semi-final first leg between Bayern Munich and Real Madrid, just two days after his blunder in the FA Cup.

The match official came under controversy after awarding a 'ghost' goal for Chelsea during the Blues' 5-1 win over Tottenham Hotspur at Wembley yesterday, despite Juan Mata's shot failing to cross the line.

Atkinson will take to the Allianz Arena in Germany for the important fixture with the responsibility of standing behind the goal and making decisions on whether the ball crosses the white line.

Tottenham boss Harry Redknapp admitted yesterday that Atkinson apologised for the mistake after the match.
