Former Arsenal and England defender Sol Campbell announces his retirement from football.

Former Arsenal and England centre-back Sol Campbell has announced his retirement from football.

The 37-year-old has taken the decision after failing to find a club since being released by Newcastle United last summer.

Campbell began his career with Tottenham Hotspur, before opting to join rivals Arsenal on a free transfer in 2001.

The defender went on to win two Premier League titles and three FA Cups during his five-year stint with the Gunners.

Moves to Portsmouth, Notts County and a brief return to Arsenal followed, before he ended his playing career at the Sports Direct Arena.

Campbell also featured on 73 occasions for England.
