London Irish 39-17 Northampton Saints

London Irish secure back-to-back victories with a 39-17 win at home to Northampton Saints.

London Irish have secured their first back-to-back win of the season with a convincing 39-17 victory over Northampton Saints.

Irish's Jonathan Joseph pounced on a Vasili Artemyev mistake to give his side an early lead before Steven Shingler extended the lead with a penalty.

David Paice powered over for London Irish's second try, followed by a spectacular 40-metre drop goal from Ian Humphreys to give Irish an 18-0 half time lead.

Steven Myler gave Northampton their first points with a penalty early in the second half but Topsy Ojo hit back for Irish with an emphatic try of his own.

Jamie Gibson secured the bonus point with the fourth London Irish try before Ken Pisi touched down for the Saints.

Northampton's late surge saw Phil Dowson score their second but Shingler continued to keep the scoreboard ticking over with his boot as Irish held out for a comfortable 39-17 victory.
