West Ham midfielder Alex Song left out of Cameroon's Africa Cup of Nations squad

West Ham United's Alex Song is left out of Cameroon's Africa Cup of Nations squad.

West Ham United won't lose Alex Song to the Africa Cup of Nations after he was left out of Cameroon's squad for the tournament.

The Cameroon Football Federation announced its 23-man squad for next month's tournament in Equatorial Guinea on their Twitter page @FecafootOfficie this morning and Song was not one of the seven midfielders included.

The omission comes as something of a surprise as Song had reportedly informed the club that he intended to play in the tournament, which runs from January 17 to February 8.

If Song had been picked, he would have been the third key Hammer set to depart, with Diafra Sakho and Cheikhou Kouyate due to play for Senegal.
