How Tottenham Hotspur could line up against Norwich City

Sports Mole looks at how Tottenham Hotspur could line up for Saturday's Premier League meeting with Norwich City as Jose Mourinho contends with three suspended players.

Tottenham Hotspur could climb into the Champions League places for a day at least with victory over Norwich City at Carrow Road in their final match of 2019 on Saturday.

The Boxing Day comeback win over Brighton & Hove Albion allowed Spurs to close the gap on the top four back to three points, and with Chelsea not in action until Sunday another victory this weekend would see Jose Mourinho leapfrog his former club in the standings.

Tottenham will arrive at Carrow Road as favourites too, with Norwich in a dire run of form which has seen them win just one of their last 14 Premier League games.

Here, Sports Mole looks at how Mourinho could set his side up for the contest.

Suspensions are the main issue facing Mourinho for this match, with Son Heung-min serving the second of his three-game ban after the appeal against his red card for kicking out at Antonio Rudiger was rejected.

Harry Winks and Moussa Sissoko are also unavailable after picking up their fifth yellow cards of the season against Brighton, which was the final match before the booking threshold increased to 10.

The trio of suspensions limit Mourinho's capacity to rotate, although the quick turnaround in fixtures means that some players who featured against Brighton will be rested.

Tanguy Ndombele could be one of the players to come in despite a certain degree of mystery surrounding his availability after Mourinho revealed that he essentially turned down the chance to play against Brighton even though he was not injured.

Eric Dier, Giovani Lo Celso and Christian Eriksen are among the other players hoping for chances in the starting XI, but the likes of Harry Kane and Dele Alli may be deemed undroppable.

Kane has scored 26 league goals in the month of December - 10 more than his next highest-scoring month - whereas Alli has been directly involved in eight goals across all competitions since Mourinho took charge.
