Southampton came from a goal down to beat West Ham United 3-1 at Upton Park this afternoon.

Mark Noble struck a deflected effort into the bottom corner before Morgan Schneiderlin levelled things up on the stroke of half time.

After the restart, Schneiderlin netted his second after some slack defending from the Hammers at a short corner, and Graziano Pelle sealed the points late on with his first Premier League goal.

WEST HAM UNITED

Goal

Adrian: Made some decent stops in the second half but was left high and dry by his defence for the second goal. (7/10)

Defence

James Tonkins: Was all at sea with the rest of his team for the second goal. Pelle had him tormented at times. (5/10)

Joey O'Brien: Deservedly booked and was unable to do anything about Pelle's goal as the striker reacted quicker than everyone else inside the box. (5/10)

Winston Reid: Normally a dependable operator, the New Zealand international had a day to forget. (5/10)

Aaron Cresswell: Got the better of Nathaniel Clyne once or twice, and seemed to relish his battle with the Saints right-back. (6/10)

Midfield

Mauro Zarate: Some flashes of skill in the first half, but faded in the second period with the rest of his teammates. (6/10)

Stewart Downing: A miserable performance from the winger. Did little to affect the game in the wide areas. (4/10)

Cheikhou Kouyate: A bundle of energy in the midfield, generally did well for the Hammers throughout, but was overrun in the second period somewhat. (6/10)

Mark Noble: Did his best alongside Kouyate to stem the tide, but the Saints had too much in the final third in the second half. (6/10)

Attack

Ricardo Vaz Te: Saw a glorious chance saved and offered little else for the home side. (5/10)

Carlton Cole: Anonymous throughout before was replaced by Enner Valencia. (3/10)

Substitutes

Enner Valencia: Tried to change things somewhat. Ecuador international should start the next game ahead of Cole. (6/10)

Mohamed Diame: Replaced Vaz Te just before the hour mark, but was quiet throughout. (5/10)

Ravel Morrison: Came on for Zarate but was unable to change things in his side's favour. (5/10)

Goal

Fraser Forster: Made a crucial save to deny Vaz Te at 0-0 and was unlucky not to keep out Noble's deflected effort. (8/10)

Defence

Nathaniel Clyne: Was a constant threat down the right for Ronald Koeman's side. (7/10)

Maya Yoshida: Was unfortunate that his block ended up creeping past Forster for West Ham's goal. (5/10)

Jose Fonte: Enjoyed a decent game at the heart of the Southampton defence. (6/10)

Ryan Bertrand: Did not get forward as much as he would have liked, but did well defensively when called upon. (5/10)

Midfield

James Ward-Prowse: A very good display from the youngster. Set-piece delivery was outstanding and played some nice passes. (8/10)

Morgan Scneiderlin: Star man; stuck at his task and netted two crucial goals for his side. Has he played his last game for the Saints, though? (8/10)

Steve Davis: Kept things ticking over nicely for the visitors. (7/10)

Dusan Tadic: A threat throughout, the winger dazzled at times with some excellent crosses and dribbles. (8/10)

Attack

Shane Long: Typically industrious display but will need more quality in front of goal. Went close just after the restart. (6/10)

Graziano Pelle: Saw a goal incorrectly ruled out before netting a second to make it 3-1. Good performance from the striker. (8/10)

Gaston Ramirez: Came on for the final 10 minutes and was quiet. (6/10)

Jack Cork: Replaced Ward-Prowse and did quite well in the middle. (7/10)
