Saint-Etienne, Bordeaux miss top spot after draw

Tiago Ilori cancels out a Ricky van Wolfswinkel penalty as Bordeaux hold Saint-Etienne to a 1-1 draw.

Saint-Etienne and Bordeaux have missed the chance to move joint top of Ligue 1 after playing out a 1-1 draw at Stade Geoffroy-Guichard tonight.

Both sides went into the clash knowing that victory would propel one of them level on points with Marseille at the summit.

However, both outfits were forced to settle for a share of the spoils as neither team could fashion a winner after two first-half goals.

It was the hosts who took the lead as Ricky van Wolfswinkel opened the scoring by converting a penalty just after the half-hour mark.

The lead lasted less than 10 minutes, however, as Tiago Ilori struck before the break to restore parity.
