Ruben Amorim addresses Marcus Rashford situation with Man United forward's exit options drying up

Options are fast drying up: Will Rashford stay at Man United?

Manchester United head coach Ruben Amorim 'does not know' whether Marcus Rashford will be leaving the club in the latter stages of the January transfer window.

Manchester United head coach Ruben Amorim has said that he 'does not know' whether Marcus Rashford will be leaving the club in the latter stages of the January transfer window.

The Englishman has not played for the Red Devils since early December, but he has continued to train with the first team and was in the stands for Thursday's Europa League clash with Rangers.

Rashford is out of favour under Amorim due to alleged poor performances in training, while the forward's general demeanour around the club has led to him being overlooked over the last six weeks.

At one stage, it appeared almost certain that the 27-year-old would be leaving Man United this month, but it is now viewed as possible that he will remain beyond the end of the winter transfer window.

AC Milan are no longer in the hunt for his signature, while a move to Barcelona is incredibly difficult due to the Catalan outfit's financial situation.

There had been interest from the Saudi Pro League and Turkey, but Rashford is believed to have made it clear that he was not interested in a move if it did not involve him joining another top European team.

Rashford's future at Man United is up in the air

There is no clear destination for Rashford at this late stage of the transfer window, but Amorim refused to be drawn on the forward's future when questioned after Thursday's European clash with Rangers.

"I don't know. I really don't know," Amorim told reporters when asked whether the attacker would remain at Old Trafford.

When pushed on whether the Red Devils academy product would be reintegrated back into the side, Amorim said: "Guys, it's 10 days, 10 days until the end and then we will see at the end of the window and then we will talk about that in the moment."

Rashford is again expected to be left out when the Red Devils head to Fulham in the Premier League on Sunday night.

Man United have another three matches before the transfer window closes, also facing FCSB in the Europa League and Crystal Palace in the Premier League, with the window then closing on February 3.

Is there a route back for Rashford at Man United?

Rashford is believed to have never made himself unavailable for selection during this difficult period, but the fact that Amorim has not brought him back into the fold speaks volumes.

It is best that both parties cut ties this month, but Rashford's wages, which are in excess of £315,000 a week, have made a move incredibly complicated, and unless Barcelona manage to trim their squad late in the window, then it is tough to imagine him leaving.

Amorim would then have a huge decision on his hands, especially if Alejandro Garnacho moves on, as it would make little sense to leave Rashford in the stands while Man United chase success in the Europa League.

Stranger things have happened in football, and it is certainly possible that Rashford could be involved in Man United's first match after the closing of the winter window, which will be against Leicester City on February 7.
