Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta reportedly identifies Norwich City's Max Aarons as the ideal replacement for Inter Milan-linked Hector Bellerin.

Arsenal are reportedly preparing a swoop for Norwich City right-back Max Aarons as they make contingency plans for Hector Bellerin's exit.

Bellerin is understood to be pushing for a move to Inter Milan ahead of the 2021-22 season, with the Nerazzurri identifying the Spaniard as an ideal replacement for Achraf Hakimi.

Bellerin's departure would leave Cedric Soares and Calum Chambers as the Gunners' two recognised right-backs, but Mikel Arteta is expected to strengthen in that area should the former Barca starlet end his association with the club.

According to The Mirror, Norwich's Aarons is Arteta's top target to replace Bellerin, with the 21-year-old playing a key role in the Canaries' successful promotion push to the Premier League last term.

Barcelona tried and ultimately failed to prise Aarons away from Carrow Road last year as a move fell through at the last hurdle, while Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur have been credited with an interest in him this summer.

The England Under-21s international remains contracted to Norwich until 2024, and he boasts five goals and 13 assists from 130 appearances in yellow and green.
