Manchester United interim manager Ralf Rangnick reveals that Anthony Martial did not want to be in the squad for Saturday's Premier League clash with Aston Villa.

Manchester United interim manager Ralf Rangnick has revealed that Anthony Martial refused to be included in the squad for Saturday's Premier League clash with Aston Villa.

The France international is confirmed to be seeking a move away this month after falling down the pecking order at Old Trafford, with Sevilla touted as a possible destination.

Martial has not played in the Premier League since a two-minute cameo against Arsenal back on December 2, and Rangnick has revealed that the striker did not want to be involved at Villa Park.

Speaking to the press after the 2-2 draw, Rangnick said: "He didn't want to be in the squad. He would have been in the squad normally but he didn't want to and that was the reason why he didn't travel with us yesterday."

Martial has just one goal from 10 appearances in all competitions during the 2021-22 season, and Sevilla are supposedly preparing to end their interest in the former Monaco starlet.

Man United let a two-goal lead slip against Steven Gerrard's men on Saturday, with Bruno Fernandes's double being cancelled out by Jacob Ramsey and new arrival Philippe Coutinho.
