Harry Amass, 16, trains with Manchester United's first team ahead of Sunday's Premier League clash with Aston Villa.

Harry Amass has trained with Manchester United's first team this week, as the 20-time English champions prepare for Sunday's Premier League clash with Aston Villa.

The 16-year-old arrived at Old Trafford from Watford last summer and has been a vital player for Man United Under-18s during the 2023-24 campaign.

According to the Manchester Evening News, Amass's performances at academy level 'have not gone unnoticed' this season, and the left-back was pictured in training with the first team on Wednesday.

The Englishman has scored once and provided three assists in 10 appearances in the Under-18s Premier League this season, with Man United winning all 14 of their matches at that level to sit 17 points clear at the summit.

Amass's form at youth level allegedly saw him invited to train with the first team, although it is unclear whether he is being considered for a senior squad at this stage of his career.

First-team head coach Erik ten Hag said that "the future for Manchester United is quite bright" while addressing the media during his press conference on Thursday afternoon.

Kobbie Mainoo, 18, has recently made the step up to the first team from academy level, while Alejandro Garnacho, 19, and Rasmus Hojlund, 21, are currently in impressive form.

"I think they enjoy to play together. There is adventure, they are a danger, they want to do it together. They want also to pass the ball to each other and everyone can play to the qualities and everyone can score goals," Ten Hag told reporters during his press conference to preview Sunday's game with Villa.

"It is great if they want to do it together, because I think that is the key, and then they can have a lot of pleasure from this and they are young players.

"I said it before, the future for Manchester United is quite bright and there is so much talent on board. But we have to develop the talent because there is a lot of space for improvement and that is necessary if you want to go to top levels and if you want to achieve a lot.

"This club wants to win trophies, so it is very ambitious, so they have to step up and bring higher levels. They have to bring consistency in their game but also against the best opposition they have to express the same threat, [because] it is all about that end product."

Omari Forson and Willy Kambwala have also made their first-team debuts this season, with Ten Hag demonstrating that he is prepared to bring young players into the team.

Despite Amass's involvement is training, he is not expected to be in the squad for Sunday's game at Villa and should instead play for the Under-18s against Derby County Under-18s on Saturday afternoon.
