Manchester United defender Raphael Varane is back in training for the Red Devils following a positive COVID-19 test.

Manchester United defender Raphael Varane was back in training on Wednesday after missing the loss to Manchester City at the weekend due to a positive COVID-19 test.

Varane was ruled out of the Manchester derby following his positive test, and the Red Devils conceded four times at the Etihad Stadium during a disappointing performance.

The France international returned to training on Wednesday morning, though, and is now set to be available for Saturday's key Premier League clash with Tottenham Hotspur.

Varane has made 22 appearances for the 20-time English champions during his first season at the club, including 16 outings in the Premier League.

The 28-year-old has spent time on the sidelines with two separate injuries, though, while he was also unwell for the clash with Brighton & Hove Albion in the middle of last month.

Luke Shaw also missed out against Man City after contracting COVID-19, but according to the Manchester Evening News, the left-back was not pictured arriving on Wednesday.

Man United will also need to assess both Cristiano Ronaldo and Edinson Cavani's fitness ahead of the contest with Antonio Conte's side this weekend.
