With the coronavirus pandemic having brought a halt to the Premier League campaign, Liverpool have been left waiting to find out whether they will be provided with the opportunity to end their 30-year wait for a league title.
However, many of the 20 clubs in England's top flight face an anxious wait over their own positions, whether that be to do with European qualification or potential relegation to the Championship.
Of course, the current global crisis has caught everyone off guard, resulting in frequent meetings being held between the powers-that-be at their respective organisations. However, it naturally raises the question of what would have happened in years gone by had the Premier League been ended after gameweek 29.
The 2011-12 campaign famously ended with Sergio Aguero securing Manchester City's first-ever Premier League title with a last-gasp goal against Queens Park Rangers, a strike which led to Roberto Mancini's side finishing ahead of Manchester United on goal difference.
However, had the season been halted after gameweek 29, United would have prevailed by a one-point advantage as a result of City losing at Swansea City.
Third and fourth remained the same as Arsenal maintained their one-point advantage over Tottenham Hotspur, but Newcastle United were able to overtake Chelsea for fifth spot.
The major development at the opposite end of the table involved Wigan Athletic, who had been in 19th place and three points adrift of safety after gameweek 29.
As a result of a remarkable run which saw the Latics record seven wins from nine outings, they were able to progress up to 15th, seven points above the relegation zone.
Fellow North-West outfit Blackburn Rovers went down in their place having picked up just three points from their last nine encounters, joining Bolton Wanderers and Wolverhampton Wanderers in the Championship.
With regards to mid-table, Swansea and Sunderland suffered the most, dropping to 11th and 13th respectively after previously holding spots in the top 10.
As for Everton and Fulham, they produced a strong end to the season to claim seventh and ninth, with Liverpool sandwiched in the middle after picking up just 10 points from nine games.
