Sports Mole takes an in-depth look at how Manchester City could line up for Wednesday's Champions League last-16 second leg with Sporting Lisbon.

Manchester City will have to make do without the suspended Kyle Walker for Wednesday's Champions League last-16 second leg with Sporting Lisbon at the Etihad Stadium.

The right-back picked up a red card in his side's final group game versus RB Leipzig and served the first of a three-game ban in the 5-0 first-leg thumping last month.

Pep Guardiola also remains without Cole Palmer and Ruben Dias due to injury, while Nathan Ake will not be risked and Joao Cancelo will miss out due to illness.

Guardiola may have been tempted to hand Zack Steffen the gloves given his side's 5-0 advantage, but with the American struggling to overcome his back injury, Ederson should continue in goal.

Oleksandr Zinchenko is likely to come in on the left, and with both Cancelo and Walker unavailable, John Stones could act as an emergency right-back for the Citizens this week.

Guardiola has hinted at using 18-year-old Luke Mbete in defence, but Fernandinho may instead drop back to partner Aymeric Laporte, and Ilkay Gundogan could displace Kevin De Bruyne - who is one booking away from a ban - in the engine room.

Riyad Mahrez is seemingly set to hold his place on the right, but Guardiola could opt to freshen up the attacking line with the introductions of Raheem Sterling and Gabriel Jesus.

Man City possible starting lineup: Ederson; Stones, Fernandinho, Laporte, Zinchenko; Gundogan, Rodri, Silva; Mahrez, Jesus, Sterling
