Liverpool head coach Arne Slot is reportedly pushing for the £70m capture of Inter Milan striker Marcus Thuram, who was wanted by Jurgen Klopp during his time at Anfield.

Liverpool have reportedly renewed their interest in Inter Milan forward Marcus Thuram.

The 27-year-old has featured heavily during November's international pause, starting the 3-1 win over Italy in the UEFA Nations League on Sunday night.

Failing to find the net for Didier Deschamps's men during matches against Israel and Italy, Thuram was unable to translate his sensational form from club football onto the international stage.

The Frenchman has found the net on seven occasions and provided two assists across 12 Serie A matches for Inter at the beginning of the 2024-25 term.

Since making the switch from Bundesliga side Borussia Monchengladbach in July 2023, Thuram has played 61 matches for the Milan-based club, scoring 23 goals.

Liverpool 'eyeing up' Inter Milan attacker Thuram

According to Gazzetta dello Sport, Liverpool have emerged as a potential destination for Inter Milan's Thuram in the summer transfer window.

The report claims that Reds head coach Arne Slot has been left impressed by the performances of the 27-year-old during the opening months of the term.

It is understood that Thuram's current deal with Inter contains a £70m release clause that is active until the conclusion of the 2027-28 campaign.

The 29-time international is allegedly aware of Liverpool's interest, although it remains to be seen whether he opts for a move to Anfield.

Former Reds manager Jurgen Klopp was supposedly a massive fan of Thuram, who was not lured to Merseyside during the German's nine-year reign.

Outgoings from Liverpool's forward line?

Whilst the thought of a £70m deal for Thuram will excite supporters, those of a Liverpool persuasion also need to focus on potential outgoings at the club.

Mohamed Salah's contract at Anfield expires at the conclusion of the season, and it is currently unclear whether the Egyptian will sign an extension.

Boasting less of a legacy at Liverpool, Federico Chiesa has struggled since moving from Juventus in the summer and could be loaned out to an Italian club in January.

Should the Reds commence the 2025-26 term without both Salah and Chiesa, it is hard to argue against the Merseyside club requiring major attacking reinforcements.
