Massimiliano Allegri hits out at Juventus players

Massimiliano Allegri lays into his Juventus players following their 1-0 defeat away at Sassuolo.

Juventus head coach Massimiliano Allegri has admitted that he was "very disappointed" with the way that his side performed against Sassuolo last night.

The champions, who ended the encounter with 10 men following the 39th-minute dismissal of centre-back Giorgio Chiellini, lost 1-0 thanks to a strike from Nicola Sansone.

Speaking to the club's official website after the final whistle, Allegri insisted that his team must change their approach for upcoming fixtures.

"I'm very disappointed with the way we approached this evening's game. There was no need for us to be tense and commit fouls near our area," he said.

"There's absolutely no excuse for it, we must grow quickly and take responsibility. We are Juventus and our approach needs to be different."

The result has left Juve 12th in the Serie A table, having collected just 12 points from a possible 30.
