Leonid Slutsky "very proud" to have managed Hull City

Leonid Slutsky insists that he is "very proud" to have managed Hull City after departing the struggling Championship club by mutual consent.

Leonid Slutsky has admitted that the Hull City job was "challenging" but remains "very proud" to have managed the Tigers.

The former Russia boss was appointed as Marco Silva's successor in June following the club's relegation from the Premier League.

However, a failure to turn Hull's fortunes around has seen Slutsky depart from the KCOM Stadium hotseat with the club three points above the Championship dropzone.

In a statement on the Tigers' website, Slutsky said: "I would like to really thank everyone associated with Hull City from the players and staff to the owner and especially the fans.

"I am very proud to have been through this experience, it was challenging but a very exciting time for me.

"Hull City will always be a part of my heart and I wish the team all the very best for the future."

Slutsky's departure leaves the Humberside club looking for their fourth manager in 18 months.
